Today I was in the chamber as the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs set out the Government response to the Independent Review of UK Government Welfare Services for Veterans.
I attended the Private Member’s Bill Ballot, an old tradition where Members of Parliament enter a ballot to have their name drawn in order to bring our own Private Member’s Bill to a Second Reading in Parliament.
I had the pleasure of inviting my constituents Chris and Donna to a reception in No10 Downing Street as my Levelling Up Champions, to meet with Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
We are coming to the end of Parliament Week. To mark the occasion, I visited Sunnyside Spencer Academy and returned to Eskdale Junior School. It was such a welcome surprise to speak to and hear from young people who are so politically aware.
We are incredibly lucky as a community to have Friends of Beeston Station, they volunteer so that visitors get the best possible first impression of Beeston when rolling into the Station cared for as beautifully as it is.
I continue to hold meetings with stakeholders and Ministers to push hard on Further Education, Apprenticeships and Skills, as I did today. We owe it to people of all ages to have local Further Education, Apprenticeship and Skills opportunities.
Today I continued my campaign to bring the Toton Link Road to Broxtowe. It is essential we get the Government funding for this project and I will continue to speak to the Government as well as local leaders until it is delivered in full.
