Campaign Responses

Please find below responses to campaigns which Darren has received which he believes should be available for everyone to see:

Chance to Move On Campaign

I have been contacted regarding the impact of the coronavirus crisis on young people. The Covid-19 crisis has been a difficult time for many people across Broxtowe but I recognise the particular concerns for under-25s.

Trophy Hunting

I have been contacted regarding trophy hunting.

Trophy hunting involves pursuing another animal in conditions which causes stress, fear and pain, with hunters killing as a form of entertainment, not for food, to control pests or to protect another species.

Universal Basic Income

I have been contacted regarding a universal basic income.

The idea of a universal basic income has often been debated, and I hope that UBI-style systems continue to be subject to research and discussion so that our approach to welfare can remain informed.

Green and Fair Recovery + Build Back Better

Protecting the environment is part of my plan for Broxtowe and therefore I am very grateful to have been contacted regarding environmental protections after the Covid-19 crisis.

Homelessness After COVID-19

I was elected on a manifesto that pledged to end homelessness under this Parliament by expanding programmes such as the Rough Sleeping Initiative and Housing First.

Hong Kong

I, like many people across Broxtowe, am disturbed by the situation in Hong Kong. The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress in Bejing has adopted a wide-raging national security law for Hong Kong.

Warfare Experiments on Animals

I understand your concerns regarding the use of animals in scientific testing. I believe that the use of animals should be avoided wherever possible, and in the limited cases when animals are used, this should be done in accordance with strict guidelines to ensure any suffering is minimised.
