During the Armed Forces Bill Select Committee this week, I asked the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Johnny Mercer, what his office are doing to improve mental health for veterans.
I was pleased to learn from his response that the Office for Veterans’ Affairs are meeting the demand for mental health services by blending third sector and statutory provision to provide veterans with clear care pathways.
The Minister also thanked the heroic work done by Service charities in supporting veterans' mental health and we are fortunate to have such a Service charity in Broxtowe – Forces in the Community. I want to thank them for the work they are doing locally to support Service people and I hope that when this Bill is passed, it will provide a framework to further support the work they are doing within Broxtowe.
