LAST UPDATED 17TH MARCH AT 17:29
I have been in further contact with Highways England about the A52 Clifton Bridge.
They have said:
‘Our team of specialist bridge engineers are continually monitoring the performance of the structure to make sure we can keep it safe. This includes detailed analysis of calculations showing how the bridge is responding to changes in traffic flows. Following the temporary reopening of the second lane on Friday, we took the precautionary decision to close the lane over the weekend to prevent any further damage to the structure. We’re continuing our structural investigations inside the bridge and we’d like to reassure motorists that were doing everything we can to ensure we can keep disruption to a minimum without causing the need for any further repairs.’

ON 9TH MARCH 2020:
I have been in contact with Highways England who are currently closing the bridge overnight for two weeks from Monday 2nd March. The additional overnight works will result in a second lane opening on the side of the bridge for traffic that is leaving Nottingham at the end of the two week period.
