I am delighted to see that Broxtowe Borough Council has been given over £50,000 of emergency funding from the Government to help support communities in Broxtowe. The voluntary organisations that have been supported through this are vital, as what they are providing in these times to residents of all parts of the constituency is immeasurable.
We are doing all we can to shield the elderly and those who are extremely vulnerable during this COVID-19 outbreak, and I would like to thank each and every person and organisation involved in this. In these unprecedented circumstances I am grateful, and I know that these funds will be put to incredible use by the following organisations that have been allocated in our Broxtowe Constituency that include:
- Hope Nottingham - £10,000 to support increased demand for the food bank and food distribution to vulnerable people in the Beeston and Chilwell area
- Middle Street Resource Centre - £10,000 to maintain telephone support contact with people with mental health issues in the community
- Stapleford Town Council - £2,000 to support the provision of mutual aid to housebound and vulnerable people in Stapleford
- Beeston Rylands Community Association - £2,000 to make food deliveries and provide support for this who are vulnerable or who are struggling financially as a result of the virus
I would also like to reiterate the message: please stay at home and save lives. It is important that we do this to protect our country and the NHS
