Having had a number of virtual calls with local residents about their broadband recently, it became apparent to me that it is unclear exactly what is available for areas designated OFCOM Area 2 - as areas in Broxtowe are - to improve broadband speeds.
Understandably, now more than ever access to reliable broadband service is vital for our livelihoods and mental wellbeing.
So, on behalf of those constituents, I have asked the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what steps his department are taking to ensure areas designated OFCOM Area 2 can access government schemes to improve their broadband speeds. Once I receive an answer, I will share the response and continue to lobby on Broxtowe’s behalf to improve broadband speeds locally.
I would urge those residents with significant concerns about their broadband speed to email me at darren.henry.mp@parliament.uk so my team and I can help and advise. Thanks to those who have already reached out.
